The best things in life aren't always FREE!

We had a fun weekend, but we learned a few lessons this weekend as well. Saturday, Dave went to help some friends move their mother into a nursing home. He basically moved their furniture. On the way there, he picked up a fisher price basketball hoop that someone was getting rid of along the road. I have been looking for one for Jack at garage sales, etc. and he did a great job because this one was in near perfect condtion and FREE! We then went to a Family Hayday at Hartwood Acres. The park has two entrances and we picked the wrong one to go to and ended up following a bunch of other lost people --which put us about 45 mins behind. I was forwarned that it gets busy so that is why we wanted to get there early. That and Jack's nap was looming. There were hundreds of people there and the lines were already long. Jack would of loved riding a train called "Timothy", but we opted for the petting zoo with Daddy. Mommy isn't a fan of them, so I just walked around with Connor. So that free thing was so great. The positive of that day is that I realized I love my new BOB stroller! We just got the car seat adapter, so we took it out on its "maiden voyage" as Dave said.

Sunday we met up with our good friends Kelly and John for breakfast at Pamela's in Shadyside. Yum! I have never been disappointed there! We then headed to the Pittsburgh Zoo for Jack and Connor's first trip to the zoo. It was free admission through RAD days and it was packed. I actually thought it was going to more busy than it was. It was good for Jack to get a taste of the zoo and Connor slept the whole time! The polar bears were the highlight of the day! We headed home around 2pm and put Jack down for his nap as soon as we got home, only for him to skip his nap completely! He has never done that before! He was in his crib for about 1 1/2 hours before I gave in. He was grumpy, but no where near what I thought he would be like. Connor and I headed to mass Sunday evening.

So....the lessons learned were
1) Make sure to pick up the like new, FREE basketball hoops along side the road.
2) Pay the money to go a local pumpkin patch (which we are still planning to do!) instead of the county wide free day!
3) Try the free zoo day, but don't stick around too long! We did decide we want a family pass the year to the zoo!
